We have spent decades in the retirement benefits industry and have seen the different changes throughout the hundred or more providers and their features, as well as trying to stay compliant with the ever changing legislation. This makes for an extremely difficult challenge for Plan Sponsors and Advisors to try to keep track and make sure they are doing the right things. This is why we created Smooth 401k. Utilizing the legislation revisions within the SECURE Act end of 2019, which opened up the Multiple Employer Program offerings that took in the great benefits of the pooled concept while maintaining the flexibility companies want.

Managing Partner – Brent Teague

Brent Teague is Managing Partner and Founder of Financial Wellness Partners. Brent has molded his 13 years of experience in employee benefits and financial services into an innovative new business model focused on financial wellness. In working with more than 100 different employers on their employee benefit programs, he realized that the current distribution model was broken and employees were confused and financially distraught. This realization has lead to the creation of Financial Wellness Partners which works with employers, employees, and individuals to put together comprehensive plans to help them appropriately allocate their financial resources and better understand the benefits that are available to them. This innovative approach to employer program transparency also includes non-standard education in Executive Packages, Debt Management, Student Loans, College Savings, Risk Management, and other customizable programs to fit employee needs.

He is well known as a valuable consultant for his clients and has demonstrated his knowledge and reach working across the country for the last 8 years with a focus in the Merger and Acquisitions industry. This experience has allowed him to better understand the challenges of multi-location businesses and regional rules and regulations.

Brent earned two degrees from The University of Akron in Personal Finance and Corporate Finance. He is also an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®), awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Studies, and a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist® (CRPS®), awarded by the College for Financial Planning. He is also a veteran where he proudly served in the United States Air Force.

He has been recognized nationally by the National Association of Plan Advisors as a NAPA Top 50 under 40 Young Gun* in 2016 and 2017, and he has spoken at multiple HR conferences across the country on the topic of Financial Wellness.

Brent resides in Strongsville, OH with his wife Eva and their two daughters, Mackenzie and Kerri. He enjoys traveling with his family, helping coach his daughter’s soccer team, and watching (definitely not coaching) his daughters dance.
